BiH, Serbia recognize Libyan Opposition:

http://www.taiwannews.com.tw/etn/news_content.php?id=1690041

This in the case of Serbia is interesting, because of the close alliance Serbia had with Kaddafi.

How BiH went is no surprise since there were never strong ties.

I slept a good deal today and yesterday. It's been too hot for me.

I find I need to be on my oxygen more when it us very hot.

I don't feel too bad all considered. I am coughing a lot less.

Libya:

Right now I am glued to CNN and Al Jazeera. The Opposition are in Tripoli. Not by any means to say the fall of Qaddafi's regime is a done deal, but the odds of that fall have gone up considerably.

I hope it goes smoothly, with as little bloodshed and loss of life as possible.

Srijeda already?

Time flies when you are having fun! So since the shower chair is not covered my helper took me to Bi-Mart, they have them cheap there, and I got a hand held shower head, so the maintenance guy put it in. Friday my helper will come back. I can have my bath with someone around and she will help me with washing my hair and my feet. I am glad to have the whole bath thing set up to be safer for me.
I am also really glad my helper is someone I know and trust. She is a good worker and does what she is supposed to do.
One of my neighbors has a total air-head for a caregiver. I think that is sad. She needs the right help. I told her I was really glad I listened to her about getting someone privately contracted.

I feel ok considering that it got warm.

It's a Monday... What can I say?

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/9978853-bosnia-2011-democracy-today-or-go-back-to-1995

The cellist went to live in Northern Ireland as I recall. Ironic.

I did not consider BiH that dangerous when I went, I would probably not go to Rwanda just yet.

Then again.., gorillas! Maybe if I were younger and had a Black Belt.

ICTY has been on three week Summer Recess:

http://www.emg.rs/en/news/region/162074.html

Page 3 :

Since I am a girl, the Page 3 position is occupied by a boy.

I don't know how you would find a male more like a young Brigitte Bardot:

http://m.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2011/08/worlds-prettiest-boy-andrej-pejic-goes-bare-again/41275/

And pardon the fact I included 'The Daily Mail' but I liked the pictures:

I guess where his family originally fled answers the ethnicity question.

In another age he would have posed for paintings of angels. No one would have questioned his desire to be beautiful.

At least he doesn't look like my cousin the Duchess of Alba.

There needs to be a law against Botox at that age! The LIPS!!! I may be haunted forever by them..

*** on a personal note, I am still recovering from pneumonia. I am still tired a lot of the time. I am still on oxygen.

I have a helper. She is paid to help me with a few things I can't do so easily on my own. She also is a very long time friend. I really am grateful for the help. In addition to being generally weak, my right arm is messed up.

That means I need help with bathing. Some days my right arm is so weak I can't pick up a coffe cup. I have been used to doing for myself.

The good news though, is this friend needed a bit more work. She has it and I have someone who can help at those times my daughter can't.

I am still coughing stuff up. I still don't get all that hungry. I have been drinking a lot of V-8 juice. I like V-8. It's warm here and V-8 is very refreshing.

Thank God it's not as hot as most years. Most years we get at least some days over 100F. I used to not mind that. I can't cope with that kind of heat anymore. I find I need more oxygen those days. I can go a couple hours off it if I am not doing anything, and it's cool. If it is warm and I am doing anything much, I can be off half an hour. So most of my cooking is of things that take less than half an hour.

All in all I don't think I am doing badly. I would rather have gotten to watch my grandkids, and gone to the Zoo in Seattle. Then again, I am alive.

My goal is to regain my strength and get to where I don't need oxygen. I want to be able to walk to the store and take busses. I miss that.

Oh well. God willing I will di those things again.

http://www.skyhidailynews.com/article/20110811/COLUMNISTS/110819997/1079&ParentProfile=1067

Some cooments on the article above:

1. I have read Rebbeca West's book 'Black Lamb and Grey Falcon' a number of times and not seen the bit about some men in what was once Yugoslavia beating their wives at the beginning of a marriage to show who is boss. It's a long book. I would have liked an actual citation. Most of the married couples Dame West described were happy.

2. Human trafficking is NOT a new problem in Bosnia. It's pretty much been a problem since the war times.

3. All the societies in the Balkans are patriarchal. That is the case for most of the world.

Shelters for women fleeing violence are inadequate. Women do go back to terrible situations.

I feel sad that some things are worse.

The majority of Bosnian people regardless of ethnicity are good people, but they have to deal with this.
