Srebenica

When I lived in Sarajevo I remember going to my usual Internet cafe and the TV was on. They were broadcasting the funerals of people recovered from hidden mass graves. I sat on a school chair and watched with some of the family who owned the place. It was hard. They knew people who died there. So there were tears.
The ceremonies on TV were lengthy. Something like 500 people were buried.
The day before, trucks loaded with coffins had passed through Sarajevo. The street was sprinkled with rose-water. People attached flowers to the trucks.
No people should have to endure this, but it's happening again, in Syria, in Palestine, in Iraq, in Myanmar.
When people aren't massacring each other, they are destroying the natural world.
Killing off the elephants and rhinos and giraffes and tigers and lions for no good reason.
