The nice person who wrote this needs serious help with her English, but she is raising the very serious issue of the children who were the result of war time rape.

Comments:
Thanks for that article about the children. Doesn't it just make your stomach heave to think about Karadzic and Mladic - the remorseless cynics who shaped the lives of those children before they were even born?

Fascinating debate in the comments to the article on Selmanagic - raises a number of interesting issues.

I feel so bad for these children and their mothers. The future was stolen from the children.
Muslim people in such circumstances do sometimes get abortions before the 120 day mark. But the četniks knew this and would hold these women and girls captive too long for an abortion to be permissible religiously, or safe medically. How a pregnant woman is kept in itself has an impact on the child all it's life. I can't even imagine being that level of unwanted.
I did know a woman whose one child was conceived because she was raped. She kept and raised the boy. He KNEW how he was conceived. It was HOW she told him that made all the difference. She raised him well. I am sure in the end he was alright. She really really loved him, he was a bright spot in a harsh life. ( just to clarify, she was American, and raised Catholic.)
We don't have nearly the stigma in Western society for children concieved by rape.
I know that Serb women and Croat women were also victims. I doubt their children are any better off.
It's why women were raped, more to break up their families and communities than anything else.
Many of those kids must suffer terribly.

Sadly every mother and every child who finds themselves unable to cope with the burden of what happened the war is a mark of enduring success for the perpetrators. How can people like Krajisnik have evaded a life sentence when they imposed life sentences on so many?

Well, I think it is a shame that they can't get life. These people are evil.
