Interesting how Metafilter comments don't seem to dissolve into a mess of personal insults after about ten replies.

They CAN disolve into personal insult and snark, I upset someone rather badly. I just did not continue the discussion. I had my say, she had her say.
The fact that in order to comment or post you have to pay $5.00 means that most people will behave themselves. If they kick you out, you don't get your money back.
Maybe more blogs ought to do that! I could charge extra for trolls! Grandfather in my regulars, start billing the trolls and spammers.
