Maybe in the grand scheme of things this isn't so very important, but I can imagine a few people are annoyed and perturbed by this story...

In Croatian language, from Slobodna Dalmacija:

Kup Franje Tuđmana Čume nosi u Beograd

Dutch Diplomat May Monitor Independent Kosovo

Brothers charged with plotting terrorism trace roots to Macedonia

Interestingly enough, the guys have relatives in Debar, a place that Dame Rebbecca West wrote a lot about, she went on at some length about the beautiful scarves that formed part of the traditional dress of the ladies of Debar and the fine filigree work done by the silversmiths of Debar for religious art.

The statement of the one relative was pretty typically Albanian, in that he seemed to feel one can over-do it with religion.

I note that the wife of one of the suspects is from Russia, I wonder if she is Chechen, or Tatar, or maybe a member of one of the groups of ethnic Turks from Russia?

Yugoslav vs Albanian

The same thing bothered me about the initial reporting. Part of why the initial identification of the suspects as 'Yugoslav' bothered me is that there is that Yugoslavia no longer exists, part of it is that the statement muddies the waters a lot.

To Fellow Albanians 'An act of ingratitude

Again, Albanians in America by and large are not terrorists, and are grateful for the many ways that America has helped them. There are VERY few peoples, especially in modern times who as peoples so owe their survival to America. Albanians know this, and appreciate it.

A link Prof.Gordy over at East Ethnia posted, had this comment, and it raises a valid question as far as I'm concerned!

Is the fraction of Muslim extremists in the US who are actually FBI agents larger or smaller than the fraction of CPUSA members who were actually FBI agents in, say, 1953?

Stones Concert Moved to Spare the Horses

'Just don't scare the horses in the street!'

Listen the horse that was dancing in the Yakima Gulag's Cinco de Mayo celebrations was ENJOYING music that at times was far scarier than anything the Stones ever did!

Well it's a nice day out, I found the old small shortwave and put batteries in it, and YEAH! IT WORKS! I'd wondered if it did or not, because I wasn't able to make it work before. Maybe I was not pushing the right buttons. So now one of my reasons not to sleep in the former 'book room' is solved. There's only one electrical outlet in here. The other reason I don't feel as comfortable in here is the damn dogs, the Hell Hounds and some other dogs kept me awake with their constant barking.

I woke up to hear on local news outlet KIT that Tony Blair is stepping down, they carried a few moments of the beginning of his speech.

Ten years is a long time in this era.

Much too long.
