I still don't understand how Krajisnik got off on the genocide charges. They found the "actus reus" evidence adequate and the "mens rea" seemed pretty solid given that he was right at the centre of everything that was happening that first year.
 
yeah, he's a generally evil bastard, I bet he gave information. I think another thing, and that is that there is a hesitancy to really apply legal sanction to acts any reasonable person would see as genocide, probably because the idea is to integrate Serbia into Europe A.S.A.P.
None of the people making these decisions were on the receiving end of the violence of these wars, I don't think they should really have a vote.
 
Fortunately they're not giving Serbia as much slack as it looked likely earlier on this year. Last week I got a reply from the Foreign Office to my letter complaining about rumours of the UK lobbying for a softening in the "concrete results" requirement re getting Mladic to the Hague. The wording of the terms for resuming negotiation of the Stablisiation and Association Agreement hasn't been softened. However the terms for the negotiation process on NATO membership they cited seem rather mushier.
