Taha Rachid Rock s the Casbah
This wasn't the best rendition I've heard him do of it, it's better when all his musicians are Algerians, and maybe he wasn't feeling so good that night, but the very concept of 'Rock the Casbah performed in Arabic delights me in a special way! Besides I like this guy anyway.
My introduction to Algerian music was at a party and it was basically Algerian rebel songs. Later I had the chance to hear some Algerian pop, and it was pretty good. I meant to hunt this down mainly for Gordy's benefit, somehow there was a discussion of the other song and I said he needed to see this! :)
