My take, either a strong central government, or let each ethnicity have it's own entity, the Croats didn't get that, and I think they actually went more Nationalist than the Serbs comeing right down to it. I think it is a huge mistake if the E.U. pulls troops too soon. BiH had a terrible war, but that may actually be worse than having a short one would have been. For one thing people don't feel like there's a lot to lose. There are places where things are very bad, and where people really don't have reason to hope. Reason to hope keeps things sane.
People vote more nationalist everywhere if they feel insecure and that is what has happened in BiH, people feel insecure.

You have to have adequate space between workers using scythes, and I think maybe adequate supervision might have helped here. I feel bad for those boys. I like using a scythe it's an efficient tool, but it's not 100% safe, what with that long blade. Most harvesting in the Balkans is done with scythes. It's hilly and the farms are small, as well people don't have the money for even small combines. The farmer who uses scythes is a lot less bound by gas prices too.

I remember being very offended at being asked ethnicity questions on my first visit to the doctor, with both kids, but now I guess the doctor was just using his experience as a doctor, and doing his job. There weren't studies like this back then, but nothing wrong with making use of personal observation.

I'm not sure that three entities would be best for Bosnia's long term interest.
It will just make the country much more disjointed and weaker than it is now.
If there is all of these conflicts just having the RS/Muslim-Croat Federation; imagine what the conflicts would be like with 3 entites.
Plus, there is always the chance that teh Croat and Serb portion would chose to join Croatia and Serbia, leaving a rump Bosniak state.
I can't see any good with having 3 entites.
That being said, I also don't think the current situation of 2 entites is good either. While Dayton ended the war; it did not win the peace.
I have problems with Dayton, primarily the decision to create the RS. I have to admit, I'm very weary of the idea of creating the RS and in essence legitimizing Karadzic's ethnic cleansing campaign.
I can't believe that the people involved at Dayton didn't think that this would cause problems in the future.
The best situation, IMO is one single united state. However, given the tense political situation in the country right now, I think that this should be very slow and deliberate process; and not the immediate ending of the two entity state. It should also be made clear that all citizens will have equal rights and that the Bosnian Serbs shouldn't be afraid because they are not in the majority in a single Bosnian state; as they are in the RS.
Moving too fast will likely to cause fear and more anger and even more tension.

Shaina, I think if Bosnia Hercegovina is not one entitity then that's the future we are looking at. I don't really favor three entities but if R.S. is allowed then 3 entities may be inevitable. I agree that things moving too fast would be VERY bad. It has to happen by way of negotiation, and I think in the event of 3 entities it needs to be made clear 'no you don't join Croatia, no you don't join Serbia you are IN BiH tough shit!
