British Buy Houses, Locals Leave

This is what I was talking about the other day when I was discussing the dangers of tourism. The only way around it is to do what Croatia does and require a special permit for foreigners to buy land in their country.

Circumcisin lives on amoung Kosovo's Slav Muslims

http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/07/31/news/kosovo.php

These folks are the descendants of Bosnians who ended up in Kosovo for varying reasons, some centuries ago.

I spent a pleasant day in the company of the grand babies. Logan is finally showing signs of wanting to get out of diapers and is talking well, and Keirna is very sharp, she actually turned down a piece of candy that would have been too much.
I told her that is a sign she's a very intelligent little girl, and her mom said 'or a sucker!' but laughed. I said 'No seriously some sweets are good, but too much is too much and it's good to know when it is too much!'

Comments:
Re tourism - Yakima, despite Croat law, half of the houses on the coast are sold. People find ways to bypass the law. And local inhabitants who are selling in Croatia, as in Bulgaria, are poor. Just heard today, the miner in Bosnia earns 150 Euros (guess it is close to 150 US dollars) per a MONTH! And you would not sell, if you had something!

Actually right now the Euro is below t he U.S. dollar by like 20 cents. Considering the danger of a miner's work that is not at all a fair wage! They also don't get what their places are worth objectively speaking, and they end up not going to better places neccesarily, only the ones who can get a visa out are PERHAPS improving their lives. If they stay are they going to be better off living someplace else? Not likely!
In the same position I'd do the same as they do too though, you are right!
It's just not right or fair that people who have bled and died for their countries, people who probably can't be really happy elsewhere are pushed into that situation.
