Well I think it does make the Scottish parties who favored devolution by constitutional means look more crediable and it makes old physical force type movements in Northern Ireland less crediable.
Of course it all depends on how well this goes. It's worth noting that Montenegro spent more of it's history independant than most people outside the region realize, and that the Montengrins had a Prince Bishop and before that a normal Medieval monarchy.
Montenegro had until a certain point a high rate of voluntary conversion to Islam, and then the king ordered conversiion back to Christianity or death to the converts mostly noblemen. Many met their deaths, it was Christmas Eve when it happened.
I should do a special post about it sometime.
