This guy makes some interesting points about the EU vs being a part of Yugoslavia, BUT... Yugoslavia wasn't the same as just Serbia and Montenegro!

Castle of Dracula Family to be Handed Back to Descendants This Week

We still have rain here, and it's been interesting trying to keep dry. It can be done though!

Comments:
I admit I skimmed it, and should have read it more closely.
As you know not everything that goes into this blog is from my point of view, I make a point of reading other points of view because it's possible other points of view will make one or two valid points in the middle of being dead wrong otherwise.
There are aspects of the EU that are while peacefully done, are not great contributions to freedom, personal or group wise, I think he exagerates that Montenegro would be less free as part of the EU than as part of Yugoslavia.
The point he raises that is of interest is that these cross national organizations do have the potential to be as constraining as membership in an empire.
Basically the thing that is not understood about Yugoslavia was it was a sort of mini-empire. It was a former part of several much larger empires.
The EU is a very large voluntary association, and there are sacrifices in national independance, and decision making, and a lot of people, both on the 'left' and the 'right' object to this.
Sometimes it's a seemingly trivial thing like the fact that it's legal in most Balkans nations to make one's own alchol at home, not just wine and beer, but rakija. This is an important part of the peasant economy as it is a good use for surplus fruit. The people who do this know EXACTLY what they are doing and since it's for home and local consumption are careful to make a good, safe product. There isn't a huge need for regulation of this in the Balkans. The mere rumor that this practice would be illegal under EU membership upset a lot of people and made them against membership. It's a small matter and might SEEM an easy sacrifice but it is not the sort of thing people want to give up.
Then the visa regime doesn't get any easier anyway.
He is totally deluded as to the numbers of dead at Srebenica. I am of the opinion more died there not fewer and it's a question of finding the bodies.
