Ibrahim Rugova Passes

I just heard this on NPR, they interviewed the editor of the main Kosovar paper Koha Dittore whose narrow escape from the area during the war I remember reading an account of in the New Yorker.
Rugova was a pacefist, he did not like war.
He was 61 years old and suffered from lung cancer and heart problems. He was recently in Camp Bondsteel for medical attention, and has veen under treatment in Pristina for lung cancer.

While I cannot say I'm surprised, given his illness, I think his loss is very sad and probably not good for the region as a whole.

Any voice which is against the use of physical force is a loss, especially in a region where physical force is so commonly resorted to, is a bad thing. I am sure many in Kosovo mourn his loss, as a man and as a leader. This report from RTE online

RTE Online report of Ibrahim Rugova's death

This report has a recent picture of him, he definately did not look well.
The talks on Kosovo's status have been postponed for a week.

family photo showing Rugova with his wife and son in their home in Pristina, note, isn't that a Christmas tree in the background?
