Depleted Uranium

Thanks Metafilter! I included this because it does have a Balkans connection. Perhaps the worst thing about war is when it is fought by means which have these effects on all involved long after the war is over. Thke article mentions that the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard was a place this stuff was stored. I remember liveing in San Francisco and seeing the big serious white trucks that had no signage. Thos trucks must have been carrying something nasty. Normal trucks, even normal military trucks have signage.
Aside from family one friend of mine lived in San Francisco, AND worse yet, she lived in Hunter's Point. She's had health problems similar to those described in this article.
The quote at the begining of the article from Henry Kissinger is worht noteing too.
I never liked Kissinger very much to start with.
