eXile reports on Maoist rebels in India
Yes far from the Balkans but eXile.ru is alwasy informative, and beautifully snarky.
This article illustrates the dangers of haveing failed to eradicate the caste system in India. In most of the world no one really believes in Communism in any form now. India might be the exception.

A reading suggestion related somehow to this subject: "God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy. Wonderful book, and very disturbing, too.
Marry christmas!

Feliz Navidad Sretan Bozic Daniel, I have read that book, of course she is from the Christian part of India, my Indian cousins as well on my dad's side are from that general area. Some of my former husband's people were from Bihar so I am all too aware of what a mess things are in Bihar. It is a pity, Bodh Gaya is in Bihar, and that is where they were from.
All that's happened is things got worse there.
