Some folks at Metafilter Don't Know Cow from BULL! :)
This is a Russian language Livejournal post, but the pictures speak for themselves, dogs can't stand up to even a hornless tame bull. This little spontaneous incident of bull-baiting leaves the dogs whipped silly!
Oh and whoever submitted it to Mefi didn't recognize the differences between cows and bulls proveing that whoever posted this grew up in a city!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: The bull didn't look like anything Russian to me, and I was right, he is one of the breed known as 'Cracker cattle' This event took place in Louisiana and the dogs were tossed around real good but a passing National Guard convoy shot them on the grounds that loose dogs in a disaster area, especially loose pitbulls are more trouble and of less worth than the bull. There has been serious concern that dogs would start running in packs and cause problems for people and livestock. Pitbulls by the way were bred in England specifically for a cruel sport called 'bull-baiting' that's what the name comes from, and if you look you will see that the dog was firmly attached to the bull's lip. The bull turned because it's not unheard of for such dogs to go after a bull's testicles.
'Cracker cattle' are descendants of corriente cattle left in Georgia and Florida by the Spaniards. Corriente cattle are fairly closely related to toros bravos, and will charge cleanly if they grow up in open rangeland. This is something I can attest to from personal experience.

Do you speak Ruski? I don't, wish I did though.
Interesting article. I actually saw these photos on MSN.com ("this week in photos" segment)
Visit the below link to hear the story from the camera man who took the pictures.

Once you get to the site scroll down to the week of Sept 15-22 and click on it.

Samo malo, I know a few words, the ones that are in common between Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian. I cannot read it,as I only reliably recognize a few letters of cirilici, and I found out looking in Mefi comments the English version of this story.I would have posted it later but I was frankly too tired, and figured anyone going to the Mefi comments would find the English version anyway. They would not know about the breed of animal though, since few non-specialists have the amount of useless information I have in my head about cattle, camels and horses! :)
