Senate Weighs in on detainee issue.

Again from BBC, The Senate amended a defense funding bill with some rules on the treatment of detainees. It looks like Senator John McCain (R. Arizona) had a good bit to do with it, and frankly I think that's a good thing. Behaveing properly in the treatment of prisoners of war, or detainees is of use to the U.S. If our guys fall into enemy hands they will only be as good as the enemy is treated in our hands...

Comments:
With all due respect, I don't agree with a part of what you said.

No matter how we treat our POWs, American POWs will always be tortured, killed and treated very badly.

That being said though; I'm against any ill treatment of POWs under American care.

In a way John you are right, but sometimes this is going to happen no matter who is our foe,no matter what we do or don't do, BUT if we miss treat someone we capture, that GUARANTEES mistreatment of guys from our country. It makes it far harder for us to object and another thing it does make our society gradually crueler, what ever you can do to a foreigner, even a 'bad' foreigner, you can do to your own, and sooner or later it happens to our own people too!
I personally don't want my country takeing that road. I'm glad to know you also don't want to go there!
